Description
No 384 Manningham Lane is a Grade II listed building, part of a group of three villas built around 1855-1860, designed in a symmetrical Italianate style. The structure is two storeys high and constructed of pitch-faced sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. It features shallow end breaks and a three-bay centre. Architectural details include a plinth, platband, and bed mould to the frieze. The low hipped slate roof has flat eaves supported by straight brackets.
The central three-bay section has sash windows set in plain ashlar surrounds, each with balconettes featuring a pierced stone design in a linked circle pattern. The central doorway is framed by an architrave and topped with a cornice on consoles. The end breaks have similar first-floor windows with balconettes and broad canted pilastered bay windows on the ground floor, with friezes decorated with paterae. The return elevations also display similar detailing, including first-floor balconettes and deep, enclosed pilastered porches with deep entablatures.
