Description
Nos 6 and 8 Spring Bank Place are semi-detached Italianate villas built around 1850-1860. They are two-storey structures made of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. A recessed dividing strip separates the three-bay elevations. The gabled ends feature pediments with consoles that rise from a frieze bed mould. The roofs are covered with slate and have corniced chimneys. The ground floors have canted bay windows with console-bracketed cornices. The upper floors feature paired round-headed windows with keystones and carved consoles that support a common cornice above, as well as single windows with eared architraves. The doors have two round-headed vertical panels and fanlights with archivolts, set within painted stone surrounds that include pilastered reveals and large carved consoles supporting cornices and blocking courses.
