Description
No. 4 Clifton Villas is a villa built around 1860. It is two storeys tall and constructed from coursed sandstone bricks, featuring an ashlar plinth, a plat band, a shallow frieze, and a bracketed eaves cornice. The hipped slate roof has flanking corniced chimneys. The right half of the front facade projects forward. There are two windows on the first floor with ashlar surrounds and panelled aprons. The ground floor includes a tripartite window on the left and a canted bay window on the right. The entrance is located on the west return front, which has three windows, one of which is blind, and a break to the right. A slender cast iron column verandah or porch extends from the corner to the break, featuring a delicate valance. This villa is part of a cul-de-sac of villas set within large, well-wooded gardens.
