Description
This is a barn attached to Croft House Farmhouse, initially built in 1690 by Robert and Mary Leach. The barn is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed voussoirs and features a stone slate roof. It is a single-aisled, three-bay structure with a tall gabled western cart entry that has a semicircular arch and a chamfered surround. Above this entry is an arched light topped with a weathered datestone. To the right of the main entry, there is a doorway with composite jambs and a chamfered surround. The right gable includes rectangular ventilators and a square pitching hole at the apex.
Inside, the inner doorway has a lintel made from reused timbers that feature half-lap joints, likely sourced from a cruck-framed building. The roof has been renewed and includes one king-post truss and one fish-bone king-post truss.
