Description

This is an early 19th-century back-to-back block on Albion Road, including numbers 5 and 7 Union Yard. Numbers 37 and 39 were refronted in the mid-19th century with sandstone that resembles brick, and feature sash windows. The front facing Union Yard is unaltered, displaying two windows with glazing bar sashes in squared surrounds, and squared jamb doorways. The roof is covered with stone slates. Numbers 41 and 43 have a mid-to-late 18th-century origin and were extended with sandstone brick, with roughly dressed quoins to number 43. Decorative console brackets support the eaves of the stone slate roof. A small, later chimneystack is located on the front roof pitch of number 43. Number 43 features a two-light stone mullion window on the first floor and a three-light, originally eight-light, square mullion window on the ground floor. Squared jamb doorways providing access from the rear elevation directly to Union Yard are also present.
