4/69 Small cottage 5 metres to south of Gildersber Cottage

Small cottage. Probably contemporary with Gildersber Cottage (q.v.), i.e. early C18. Rubble brought to course, large dressed quoins, stone slate roof. 2 storey single-cell. 2-light double- chamfered mullioned window (lacking mullion) to each floor. End stack to left. Right hand return wall has doorway with composite jambs and straight lintel with broad chamfered surround. Single- chamfered light to left at mezzanine level to light small stone spiral staircase.

Interior: square-headed fireplace and stop-chamfered spine beam and floor joists. RCHM (England) report.
