Description
The First and Second World War Memorial, located approximately 100 metres southeast of the bandstand in Denholme, was built around 1920. It features a larger than life bronze statue of an infantryman standing on a two-stage, rock-faced, grey-granite square base with a cornice. The memorial is raised on a three-step granite podium. An inscription on the front commemorates the men of Denholme who fell in the Great War, while the names of the fallen are listed on bronze tablets on the other three sides. Additionally, a bronze tablet has been added to the front in memory of those who fell in the Second World War.
