Description
The front wall and gate piers to the Church of St. Paul were likely built in 1846 by J. B. Chantrell. They are made of dressed gritstone, with the front wall featuring moulded coping. The original iron rails have been removed. The structure includes symmetrically placed square stone gate piers, with one pair on each side of the front wall that curves in towards the two pairs at the center. The main central pair of gate piers are larger and slightly more elaborate than the others, all topped with deep gabled caps. This structure is noted for its group value with the church.
