Description
Upper Laithe Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1726, with an early 19th-century addition to the left. It is constructed from deeply-coursed millstone grit, with hammer-dressed stone used for the addition, and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and includes a gabled porch on the left side of the original structure, which has copings and kneelers, and a Tudor-arched doorway with a chamfered surround. An inscription above the door reads: 0 EM 1726.
On the right side, there are two 4-light chamfered windows, with the left window featuring a king-mullion. Both windows have had their outer mullions removed. On the first floor, there is one 4-light and one 2-light flat-faced mullion window, with the latter possibly having originally been a three-light window. The addition to the left has one 3-light flat-faced mullion window on each floor, all of which have recent casements. The left gable features chamfered copings on cut kneelers, and there is a central ashlar stack on the early part of the building, along with a gable stack to the left. The rear has a continuous outshut with various later altered openings. The interior has not been inspected.
