Description
Sand Beds Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1712. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building has quoins and two 1st-floor windows visible from the front. A blocked central doorway retains a moulded surround and an ornamental lintel. To the left of the doorway is a 5-light window on both floors, and to the right, a 6-light window on both floors, each with a king-mullion and a double-chamfered design. There are also 19th-century doorways on both the left and right sides. Above the central doorway, at 1st-floor level, is a square plaque featuring a central moulded roundel, inscribed with “T H” and “17 12” in the corners.
The farmhouse has chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers, and a central stack that has been rebuilt. The rear elevation features a central 12-light mullioned and transomed window, alongside two 3-light windows on the 1st floor, all with a double-chamfered design. A 19th-century doorway and a 2-light window are present at ground-floor level, alongside a more recent window. Later stacks are visible on the rear roof pitch. The interior was not inspected.
