Description
The First and Second World War Memorial, located at the junction with Dodworth Green Road, was constructed around 1918, with inscriptions for the Second World War added later. Made of sandstone, the memorial features a life-size figure of an infantryman holding a rifle and bayonet, standing on a square, slightly tapering pedestal that has a cornice and a moulded base. It is set on a two-step podium. The pedestal bears the inscription:
"TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF ALL THOSE MEN OF DODWORTH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR US IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918."
The names of the fallen men are inscribed on the other faces of the pedestal, while the Second World War memorial inscription is located on the base.
