Description
Dodworth Old Hall is a house and shop premises, dating to 1641, that now forms part of a row. It has undergone alterations and is rendered with quoins. The roof is covered in Welsh slate. The building is two storeys high and has two bays, incorporating a through passage. A good, near-central doorway features a moulded surround and a Tudor-arched lintel inscribed "B W J 1641". To the left of the doorway, a former five-light double-chamfered window has been enlarged to create a doorway on the right, with an inserted 19th-century square mullion and sash window to the left. A former two- or three-light double-chamfered window on the right has been enlarged downwards to accommodate a 19th-century sash window, now a casement. A continuous moulded band runs above the ground-floor openings. At first-floor level, two former five-light windows, similar to those on the ground floor to the left, have been partially blocked and enlarged to accommodate 19th-century sashes (a casement on the right). The roof is hipped at the left end. The rear of the building features a good, central, moulded doorway with a cambered head. There is one five-light double-chamfered window to the right and a two-light window to the left, from which the mullion has been removed. Three double-chamfered windows and a later window are visible on the first floor. A projecting brick stack is located to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
