Description

Dodworth Grange is a large house with two adjoining dwellings, originally built in 1710 on an earlier core, with additions made around 1900. The main house is finished in stucco, while the adjoining dwellings are constructed from coursed squared stone, all topped with stone slate roofs. The building is two storeys high.

The main house features a double-depth design with four bays, a single-bay addition to the left, and a two-bay addition to the right, which includes a 17th-century fragment at the rear. The entrance, located in the third bay, has a moulded architrave with a swept head and a cornice supported by console brackets. The windows are 12-pane sashes set within moulded architraves, and there is a band at the first floor level. The first-floor left side has raised quoins, and above the first-floor windows are two long fielded panels. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and chamfered gable copings on square kneelers, with ashlar end stacks that feature cornices.

To the left, the single-bay addition has a three-light canted bay window on the ground floor and a 12-pane sash window above it on the first floor. The two-bay addition on the right, which is in keeping with the main house, has its right gable dated 1900. The rear elevation has been slightly extended under a continuous roof and features an early, reset studded door. In the centre of the right return, the 17th-century fragment includes a gable with a five-light double-chamfered window on the first floor and chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers. There is also a 19th-century building adjoining the rear right, which is not of special interest.

The interior has not been inspected.
