Description

This is a barn located 10 metres north of Trench Farmhouse, likely built in the mid to late 17th century and probably contemporary with the farmhouse. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has an L-shaped layout.

A tall cart-entry is positioned at the junction of the two ranges, featuring a pent porch and a monolithic lintel. On the left side, there are two chamfered ventilators with arched heads. To the right, there is a basket-arched doorway with composite jambs and a chamfered surround, along with another doorway that has monolithic jambs and a chamfered lintel. This second doorway bears a weathered inscription reading "SH," which is illustrated in W. P. Baildon's work. Each floor has a window set between the doorways.

The rear of this range includes a blocked basket-arched doorway and three bays of arched ventilators, some of which have sunken spandrels. The south gable features additional arched ventilators.
