Description

West House Farmhouse and Nos 1 and 2 West House Cottages are a farmhouse and two cottages, originally built in the 18th century, with an additional cottage added in the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed stone and feature a stone slate roof. The farmhouse, located on the left, has two storeys and five first-floor windows, with quoins at the corners. There are chamfered quoined doorways on both the left and right sides; the right doorway is obscured by a gabled porch that has a plinth, a shaped lintel inscribed 'TMNR 1970', shaped kneelers, and ashlar coping. A later plain stone surround doorway on the far right provides access to the cottage. The windows are flat-faced mullions, with configurations of three and four lights, although some mullions have been removed. On the left side of the first floor, there is a stone inscribed 'John Wright 1709', and a datestone inscribed 'JA 1793' is located between the fourth and fifth first-floor windows. The building features corniced stacks. The cottage on the right has two first-floor windows and a central plain stone surround doorway with interrupted jambs. Its windows are also flat-faced mullions, with one and two lights on the ground floor and one and three lights above, along with a cill band. There is an end stack on the right side of the cottage.
