Description
Ashcroft Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and five first-floor windows, with the left-hand portion projecting. It has a plinth and quoins. There are three doorways: the left and center doorways are in flush stone surrounds, while the right doorway has a chamfered, Tudor-arched surround inscribed with the year 1657, which has been converted into a window. There are also two single-light windows in plain stone surrounds. In the right section, there is an ogee-headed opening with chamfered jambs and a 2-light double-chamfered mullion window, although the mullion has been removed, all under a continuous hoodmould. On the first floor, there are two single-light windows in plain stone surrounds and double-chamfered mullion windows with configurations of three, one, and four lights (now two). The building features shaped kneelers and ashlar coping. There are stacks located at the right end and on the ridge, which is off-centre. At the rear, there is a round-arched stair window in a chamfered, quoined surround, complete with a keystone and impost blocks.
