Description
Nos 53 to 59 on Town Gate in Wyke, dated 1727, were originally a yeoman's house that was altered and subdivided for shops in the latter part of the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed gritstone and features a stone slate roof, with saddlestones and kneelers. The rear elevation has a single-storey center flanked by gabled wings. The windows were altered in the 19th century. There is a ledged doorway on the north side that displays the date. The rear gables are adorned with moulded copings, shaped kneelers, and small semi-circular notched blocks at the center of each gable.
