Description
The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade II listed building, constructed between 1846 and 1847. It was an early commission by the architectural partnership of Mallinson and Healy, and it shares a similar design style with their St Paul's in Manningham. This church is built in the Early English style and is quite large, featuring a tall nave, aisles, and a chancel. A tower is located at the side of the west end, which has stepped buttresses and a clock stage with a machicolated base leading to an octagonal spire adorned with gablets. There is a north porch, and the windows are lancets with drip moulds, which are coupled in the clerestory.
