Description

The Conservative Club is a two-storey villa built around 1850, located on a corner site at Birch Lane and New Cross Street in West Bowling. The building is constructed from sandstone "brick" with rusticated ashlar quoins and a sill band. It features a hipped slate roof with very deep overhanging eaves.

The facade includes three windows framed by architrave surrounds, with the right-hand ground floor window being a corniced canted bay window. There is a rusticated quoin porch with a segmental arched doorway, also in an architrave surround, which has a carved keystone and a cornice above. The south return front has a left-hand break, with coupled windows on the first floor. The ground floor features a canted bay window on the left and a shallow, tripartite rectangular bay window on the right, both adorned with full entablatures. The villa is set within a large garden.
