Description

These are two houses dating from the 18th century, constructed of sandstone 'bricks' with stone-slate roofs. The terrace is set back from Park Lane behind a small front yard. Each house features a square-jambed doorway with a modern plastic door to the right, and a two-light window with mullion to the left. Above the doorway is a small single-light window, and on the first floor is a two-light window. Number 70 has uPVC top opening window frames, while number 72 has similar timber-framed windows. Number 70 retains a stone-built 'nettie' (toilet building) attached to the front wall of the yard; this feature has been removed from number 72. The rear of number 70 has two uPVC framed windows to each floor, with the ground-floor window on the right adapted to form an entrance. Number 72 has three varied timber-framed first-floor windows, and a 20th-century extension occupies the full width of the ground floor.

The interior of number 70 includes a small entrance vestibule from which the stairs rise, with a door leading to the main room. A small kitchen sits in the far right corner, with access to a cellar. The fireplace has been blocked, and the rear window has been extended to create an exit to the back yard. Upstairs, thin partition walls have been added to create two bedrooms and a bathroom. The interior of number 72 was not inspected.
