Description
The warehouse at Bowling Mills Combing Company, built around 1860-1870, is a large five-storey structure located on the south side of Bowling Old Lane in West Bowling, Bradford. Constructed from sandstone "brick," it features sill bands on each floor and has 24 windows along its long side elevations. There is a linking impost band positioned just below the lintels. The building is topped with a modillion-bracket eaves cornice and has a pedimental gable over the central three bays of the west front, which is flanked by rusticated pilaster stops. The pedimental gable ends include tripartite archivolt arched blind windows. At the north-west corner, there is a square stair tower with narrow triple grouped lights on each face, complete with impost strings and archivolt arches. The top stage of the tower features a framed oculus and a bracketed cornice that leads to a pyramidical roof adorned with iron cresting.
