Description
Sanderson's Weir on the River Don is a weir built in 1825 for Messrs. Sanderson, steel manufacturers. It is constructed from ashlar and furnace slag. The weir is approximately 50 meters long and features a curved design, with an ashlar top sill and a downstream slope made of furnace slag. At each end of the weir, there is an outlet, which is now blocked. This structure was built on the site of an earlier weir that served the forges located on either side of the river.
