Description
The Yorkshire Bank, built around 1900, is a two-storey bank located on a corner site on Attercliffe Road in Sheffield. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with ashlar dressings and features gabled and hipped slate roofs with two ridge stacks.
The façade includes a chamfered entrance bay, with three windows to the right and four to the left. It has a rusticated plinth, first floor, and sill bands, along with projecting rusticated panels beneath the windows. A moulded cornice and parapet complete the top of the building. The entrance bay features a segment-headed doorway flanked by columns and topped with a large bracketed keystone. Above this doorway is a chamfered oriel window with a moulded surround and keystone, as well as a pair of plain sash windows and a segmental pediment.
To the right, there are three segment-headed three-light windows, with the rightmost being wider, all set in moulded surrounds with bracket keystones. Above these are three two-light plain sash windows in moulded surrounds with double keystones, with the rightmost in a chamfered oriel topped with a segmental pediment.
The left side of the building has three segment-headed three-light windows in moulded surrounds with bracket keystones, followed by two narrower doorways with blind oval panels above. Above this section are four two-light plain sash windows in moulded surrounds with double keystones, with the leftmost in a chamfered oriel with a segmental pediment. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
