Description
Bacon Lane Canal Bridge is a canal bridge built around 1819 and restored around 1989. It was likely designed by William Chapman, a canal engineer, for the Sheffield Canal Company. The bridge is constructed of coursed squared stone and brick, featuring a single segmental brick arch with stone facing. There is a string course on the north-east side, and the bridge has splayed brick parapet walls with chamfered stone coping and square brick piers. The canal connecting Sheffield to Tinsley was opened in 1819.
