Description
The Former Trustee Savings Bank, built in 1899, is located at 570 Attercliffe Road in Sheffield. This single-storey bank features an ashlar front and a pyramidal slate roof topped with an octagonal lantern, showcasing a Renaissance Revival style. Architectural details include a plinth, a sillband, corner pilasters, a dentilled cornice, and a balustrade with pedestals topped with urns. The façade has a three-window range with three moulded round-arched openings that have enriched keystones, flanked by fluted pilasters. The central entrance consists of a panelled double door with a round-headed two-light casement above it, and on either side are tall round-arched windows with fanlights.
Inside, the bank features an enriched cornice and a panelled ceiling, with walls clad to three-quarter height in moulded glazed tiles. At the rear, there is a doorcase that includes a clock. The building was vacant at the time of the survey.
