Description

No. 762 and 764 Attercliffe Road is a former Boots chemist shop, now a restaurant, built in 1905 with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a glazed terracotta front and decorative elements, topped with a gabled and hipped slate roof featuring a coped gable and a single gable stack. It is designed in the Renaissance Revival style.

The exterior showcases a pierced balustrade with pedestals and finials. The upper floors are separated by panelled pilasters and a horizontal band adorned with wreaths. The building stands three storeys high with attics and features a four-by-four window arrangement. It occupies a corner site with a rounded corner. The entrance bay includes a three-light mullioned window with a cornice and finials, and above it, there is a smaller three-light window with a cornice and a scroll pediment. Below this, there is a splayed recess with a renewed door.

On the Attercliffe Common front, to the right, the first floor has four elliptical arched three-light cross casements, and above these, there are four two-light plain sashes with cornices. Above this section, a large central dormer is flanked by pedestals and features a small two-light mullioned window under a broken segmental pediment with a finial. The Worksop Road front, to the left, has similar window arrangements but lacks the dormer. The ground floor has a continuous corniced fascia supported by scroll brackets. Flanking the entrance, there is a two-light shop window to the right and a five-light window to the left. To the right, there is a doorway flanked by renewed single pane windows, while to the left, an entrance bay is flanked by pilasters and features a door with an overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
