Description

The weir at Lochwinnoch was likely constructed in the late 18th or early 19th century, during a significant period of industrial development in the area. It is located on the River Calder, upstream from Bridgend Bridge. Uniquely, the weir has a semi-circular shape and is made of ashlar stone, with some repairs done in brick and concrete. The lade on the eastern bank is still visible, although it is currently dry, and the sluice has been built up.
