Description
The barn at Green Farm, located approximately 15 metres to the north-west of the farmhouse, is a building likely dating from the 17th century. It features a cruck frame and is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble with a stone slate roof. The barn has an elongated shape with a partial aisle at the front centre and a small block with a separate roof at the front left. It is a single-storey structure with six bays. The barn is characterized by large quoins and plinth courses on the downhill right end. The central outshut includes a large cart entrance on the right and an open-fronted bay on the left, along with a doorway in a quoined surround at the left end of the outshut. The interior contains a cruck framework, although it is not available for inspection. Previous descriptions mention four cruck pairs. The barn is discussed in detail by S. O. Addy in "The Evolution of the English House," 1933 edition, pages 92-94.
