Barn At Green Farm Approximately 15 Metres To North West Of Farmhouse

The barn at Green Farm, located approximately 15 metres to the north-west of the farmhouse, is a building likely dating from the 17th century. It features a cruck frame and is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble with a stone slate roof. The barn has an elongated shape with a partial aisle at the front centre and a small block with a separate roof at the front left. It is a single-storey structure with six bays. The barn is characterized by large quoins and plinth courses on the downhill right end. The central outshut includes a large cart entrance on the right and an open-fronted bay on the left, along with a doorway in a quoined surround at the left end of the outshut. The interior contains a cruck framework, although it is not available for inspection. Previous descriptions mention four cruck pairs. The barn is discussed in detail by S. O.
