Former Stables And Fan Room To West Of Sharrow Mills

The former stables and fan room, located to the west of Sharrow Mills, date from the late 18th century and mid 19th century, with alterations made in the mid 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features stone slate roofs. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range in an L-plan layout.

On the north side, there is a gable on the left with a loft door, and to the right, a section with three mid 20th century single pane windows. Below this, on the left, are two board doors, each with overlights, and on the right, there are two segment-headed glazing bar casements. The east side has a single pane casement on each floor, both dating from the mid 20th century.

This building was adapted to contain filters that recovered airborne snuff from the dust extraction system. It is included for its group value.
