Description
The dam walls at Sharrow Mills, located on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, date from the early 18th century and late 18th century, with restoration completed in 1989. They are constructed from coursed squared stone with slab coping and feature a serpentine plan. On the north side, next to the mill, the coping extends to create a pathway that includes a 19th-century iron handrail, leading to the Manager's house. To the west, there is an uncoped wall approximately 50 meters long, which has two sluices and separates the millrace from the millpond. The wall adjoining the mill and extending to the Manager's house was previously listed in 1973, while the uncoped wall to the west is a new listing.
