Description

The gate piers to the drive of Middlewood Hall date from the early 19th century. They are made of gritstone and feature finely finished siltstone urns. The piers have square moulded plinths and are monolithic, incised with line decoration. Each pier has a moulded cornice and large urn-shaped finials, which are constructed in four parts with gadrooned bases and caps. These piers originally formed the main entrance to Middlewood Hall, which is now accessed from Mowson Lane.
