Description
The Barn, located 20 meters north-west of New Carr Houses, is a workshop and dwelling that has been converted into a store. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof topped with a coped stone gable stack. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range of three-light glazing bar casements. On the ground floor, to the left, there are similar casements with two and three lights, all with stone lintels. To the right, there are two cart openings that have re-used wooden lintels and 20th-century garage doors. Inside, the structure has a principal rafter roof made from re-used timber, which includes a pair of cruck blades.
