Description

Nos. 9 and 11 on Taptonville Road are two houses built around 1850, featuring 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed from ashlar stone and topped with a slate roof, which includes three stone ridge stacks with coped tops. They have a plinth and wooden eaves supported by modillions. The houses rise two storeys plus garrets and have a six-window range of twelve-pane sash windows with stone lintels. Below these, there are four similar windows flanked by single moulded doorcases that have bracketed cornices. The doors are fielded six-panel types with overlights, and the left door features Gothic tracery. The returns of the houses each have a single window, with a round-headed garret window above.

The exterior includes a coursed squared stone boundary wall with slab coping and square piers topped with pyramidal caps. There is spearhead cast-iron railing with two gateways.
