Description

This is a milepost located approximately 45 metres north of the junction with Wheel Lane, Halifax Road, and Salt Box Lane in Grenoside. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost has angled sides and top, standing freely. It features raised lettering, with the word "MILES" in italics. On the left side, it reads "SHEFFIELD / 4 / MILES," and on the right side, it reads "PENISTONE / * / MILES," although the asterisk has been obliterated.
