Description
Sylvesters Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse constructed of coursed, squared sandstone with a Welsh slate roof. It is a two-storey building with three windows to the first floor, and a lower, one-bay wing to the rear right. The farmhouse has large quoins. The ground floor has been altered; a part-glazed door is located to the left of centre, flanked by a three-light casement to its left and a two-light casement to its right. A blocked doorway, now obscured by vegetation, is situated to the right of centre, with a two-light casement to its right. The first floor has two double-chamfered mullion windows with three lights each, with a two-light casement to the far left. The roof features moulded kneelers and chamfered gable copings to the right. A shouldered ashlar ridge stack is visible at the centre, with a rebuilt shaft. The right return side has a lean-to extension to the gable, and three single-light, double-chamfered windows in the gable wall. The rear wing has a double-chamfered mullion window on each floor; the ground floor window lacks mullions. Later additions to the right, to the rear, and an adjoining converted farm building to the left of the farmhouse, which are under the same roof, are not considered to be of special interest.
