Description

This milepost, located approximately 100 metres north of the driveway to Bell Ground House, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and features freestanding, angled sides with a swept top panel. The raised lettering on the milepost indicates distances: "SHEFFIELD / 8" on the left side, "BARNSLEY / 6" on the right side, and "LONDON / 171" on the top panel. The word "Miles" on the side faces is now buried.
