Description

This is a milepost located approximately 7 meters south of the junction with Commerce Street in Chapeltown. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost features angled sides beneath a concave panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "LONDON / 169". On the left side, it indicates "BARNSLEY / 8 / MILES", and on the right side, it states "SHEFFIELD / 6 / MILES".
