Description
This is a milepost located approximately 45 metres southwest of the junction with Kirby Lane. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost features angled sides beneath a concave panel, although the upper part is broken off. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates "170," which shows the number of miles to London. On the left side, it reads "BARNSLEY/7/MILES," and on the right side, it reads "SHEFFIELD/7/MILES." This milepost is positioned on the boundary with Tankersley parish in Barnsley Metropolitan District.
