Description
The lodge, gateway, and boundary wall at Tinsley Park Cemetery were built in 1880 by Holmes & Johnson. This structure is designed in the Gothic Revival style, featuring rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The building has two shouldered side wall stacks and two smaller square side wall stacks. It is two storeys high with garrets and has an L-plan layout.
On the left side, there is a gable-facing wing with two plain sash windows on each floor, and the garret windows have foiled pointed heads. The right return features a projecting gable with a coped square bay window that has three plain sashes. In the angle of the return, there is a tall gabled wooden porch with a cusped opening, which covers a panelled door with an overlight.
The boundary wall has a chamfered plinth and coping. Close to the lodge, to the left of the gateway, there is a close boarded door under a shouldered square gable. To its right, there are six sections of spiked railing with piers topped with pyramidal caps, extending approximately 75 meters. The gateway itself has four chamfered square piers, with the central ones being slightly larger and also topped with pyramidal caps. It features double wrought-iron gates flanked by single pedestrian gates. The boundary wall continues to the right of the gateway with six sections of railing, followed by a solid section that includes a blocked doorway, also approximately 75 meters long.
