Description
The lodge, gates, and boundary wall at the north entrance to Graves Park in Sheffield were built around 1870. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a fish scale slate roof with a coped stone ridge stack. It has a plinth and patterned bargeboards with finials. The building is single storey and has a three-window range. The central gabled porch includes a rebated elliptical arched doorway with a close boarded door and a wrought-iron gate. Above the door is a blank panel with a moulded surround. On either side of the porch are single light windows with hexagonal patterned glazing bars, and beyond them are single two-light casements with stone surrounds and mullions. The right gable facing Derbyshire Lane has a canted stone bay window with a central stone mullioned two-light casement, and above it is a framed blank panel. The interior has not been inspected. The adjoining gateway features four ashlar piers with plinths and shallow pyramidal caps, with a central pair of wrought-iron gates flanked by single smaller gates. To the east, there is a coursed squared stone boundary wall with half-round coping, approximately 200 meters long.
