Description
The bandstand, located 60 meters northeast of the Mappin Art Gallery in Sheffield, was built around 1900. It features a combination of cast-iron, ashlar, and wood, topped with a felted roof. The structure is single-storey and has an octagonal plan. It is supported by cast-iron posts on a stone plinth, with 24-pane glazing bar sash windows on each side and an entrance gate on the west side. Below the windows, there is a cast-iron railing, and above them, a cast-iron frieze. The roof is a corniced tent style, topped with a dome that has a cross finial. Surrounding the dome is a moulded cornice with a cast-iron crest. Inside, the bandstand features a matchboard dado and ceiling.
