Description

The bandstand, located in Victoria Park, Southport, was likely built around 1900 and has undergone slight alterations. It features a cast-iron structure set on a concrete base, topped with a felted wooden roof and has an octagonal plan. The bandstand is a single storey, with cast-iron columns at each angle. These columns have fluted pedestals, vase bases adorned with acanthus decoration, Composite capitals, and scrolled open-work brackets supporting the overhanging eaves. Between the columns are shallow elliptical-arched beams. The interior boasts a flat boarded ceiling and an umbrella-shaped roof, which includes an octagonal corona surrounding a small bell-shaped cap topped with a finial.
