Description

This detached villa was built around 1850-54 and subsequently altered. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with painted sandstone dressings, and has a fishscale slate roof topped with red cockscomb ridge tiles. The architectural style is Tudor Revival. The building’s plan is an irregular shape, formed by a single-depth double-fronted main range with a large extension to the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high, with a three-window front. A wide, gabled bay window projects slightly to the left and is overlapped by a square, flat-roofed porch in the centre. The porch has a wide Tudor-arched doorway framed by chamfered stone, a hoodmould, and double doors with glazed panels. To the left of the porch, the gabled bay window contains a cross-window on the ground floor with a lintel and hoodmould. To the right, a canted bay window sits under a pentice roof, and the first floor has wooden mullioned casement windows with three, two, and three Tudor-arched lights respectively, all with lintel hoodmoulds. The gable features a small, blank shield and oversailing verges. A canted bay window is present on the left return of the building. The interior was not inspected during the listing assessment.
