Description

This is a villa, likely dating from around 1850 to 1860, originally used as a school and later converted into apartments. It is a building of group value, recognised for its contribution to the area. The villa is constructed of painted stucco with stone quoins (now painted to match), with slate roofs on multiple levels, including a hipped roof to the main section. It is designed in the Italianate style, with an irregular plan featuring a main range running north-south and a north-east corner tower, complemented by a rear service extension.

The north entrance front is asymmetrical, with a five-bay design, the first bay being the tower. The main three-bay section includes rusticated quoins on the right side and prominent bracketed eaves. A central rectangular porch features a round-headed arch with a keystone, an inner doorway with margin panes, a dentilled cornice to the ground floor, a round-headed sash window above, and a pierced parapet. To the left of the porch are two stair windows, both with moulded architraves, the upper one round-headed. To the right is a single large sash window with a corniced architrave.

The corner tower has panelled pilasters and a pyramidal roof with a finial. It features a sash window on the front and side at ground floor, a raised shield panel at first floor, and arcaded windows at the second floor. The east return wall has an oculus at first floor and a two-story canted bay window. The four-window west (garden) front has a wide canted bay window at ground floor, a doorway, a window with a corniced architrave, and sash windows at first floor with eared architraves.

The interior has been altered.
