Description

The Willows is a villa, originally dating to around 1824, and potentially built on the site of, or enlarging, an earlier building occupied in 1798. It was extended in 1924 and subsequently altered in the 20th century. The villa is constructed of white painted stucco with black painted stone quoins, and has hipped slate roofs. It presents an irregular plan, consisting of a double-depth, double-fronted main range with a set-back wing to the left, and a 1924 addition to the right.

The main three-window range features an open-pedimented central section that projects forward. At ground floor, it has a large, full-width bay window with Tudor-arched lights arranged 2:3:2. Above this is a 3-light window with a hoodmould, also in a Tudor style. The outer bays of the main range have matching 3-light windows at the first floor, with altered windows below; the left window has altered glazing, and the right window is now a French window.

The set-back wing to the left includes a glazed porch in the angle, a 2-light window above this, a 4-light window to the left, and a 3-light window above that, all in a matching style. The 1924 addition to the right is styled to match the rest of the building, except for a recessed porch with a pair of set-in Tuscan columns. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
