Description

The building comprises an early 19th-century inn and livery stable, later remodelled in the early 20th century and now used as a public house and a house. The construction is primarily roughcast render on brick, with glazed tiling and a slate roof, laid out in a U-shape with a main range, a wagon entry, and rear wings to both sides.

The public house section has two storeys and a two-window range. A continuous flat-roofed projection replaces former bay windows on the ground floor, featuring a dado of glazed tiling and a central doorway interrupting the fenestration of six and six-light windows with small-paned overlights. The first floor features a central gable displaying an Art Nouveau plaque reading "CHESHIRE / LINES / HOTEL," flanked by low four-light casement windows. A segmental-headed wagon archway with a two-over-two sash window is above an archway in the first bay, to the right of which is the house, number 83.

Number 83 is two storeys and also has a two-window range. It is symmetrical, with a central round-headed doorway, now protected by a gabled porch with a round-headed arch—replacing a former Regency porch—flanked by eight-over-eight unhorned sash windows on each floor. The first-floor windows are square. Chimneys are now situated on the front slope where former gables previously stood. The rear wall of number 83 has been rebuilt using common brick, one brick bearing the date 1915. The inn's interior has been remodelled, while the interior of the house has not been inspected.
