Description

The boundary wall, gate piers, and garden wall to the Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport were likely built around 1877. The structure features red brick walls topped with pitched sandstone coping and includes three pairs of Gothic-style gate piers, which do not have gates. The central section of the wall between the main gateways is stepped up and features a carved stone banner that reads "PRINCE OF WALES HOTEL." On the south side, there is a matching pair of gate piers. Inside the forecourt, a semicircular garden is enclosed by a low stepped wall with chamfered coping, and stone piers at regular intervals are topped with urns. All the stonework has been painted white. This structure is included for its group value with the Prince of Wales Hotel.
