Description
The walls and gate piers enclosing the front drive and west garden of the former Captain's House were built between 1897 and 1902 by Sir Henry Pilkington. Constructed from brick with stone dressings, the walls feature wide flat piers with sections in between that have sunken curved coping, which contain steel spearhead railings. The rusticated piers are topped with a coved cornice and ball finials. The wall steps down to the west and extends approximately 50 meters around the garden to the west and north, with some cut-outs partially blocked by brick. This structure is part of the former HMS Pembroke barracks.
