Description
The Old Bank is a former bank building, dated 1922, located at 253 Lord Street in Southport. It was designed by Francis Jones and is constructed from Portland stone, with the roof likely concealed by slate. The building is in a classical style and has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the street.
The exterior features a temple portico, supported by giant fluted Ionic columns set on a plinth. Steps between the columns lead to a large square-headed doorway, which has a richly decorated architrave with a cornice on consoles and altered bronze doors. The facade is completed with a full entablature and a modillioned pediment.
The interior has not been inspected. The building forms a group with Nos. 245-251 to the left.
