Description
The Pavilion in Municipal Gardens is a garden pavilion, now functioning as a cafe, likely built in the mid-19th century and altered since. It features painted ashlar, with the roof concealed but probably covered in asphalt. The pavilion is designed in a classical style with a rectangular single-cell plan.
On the exterior, it is a single-storey structure that has a plain frieze and a dentilled cornice with a blocking course around the building. The north side includes a wide rectangular opening flanked by broad pilasters and a pair of Roman Doric columns in antis, leading to a round-headed doorway that contains 20th-century double doors and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. The east and west ends are similar in design, while a 20th-century addition covers the south side.
The interior has not been inspected. The pavilion forms part of a group with the Town Hall.
